Did you know we can not have God’s presence in our life without holiness? God is holy. Wherever He is, holiness is there. If we want His presence, it will come with holiness. And the only way on earth we can even remotely be holy is by receiving the shed blood of Jesus in and over our lives.
“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”1 Peter1:15-16.
On earth when we hear the word holiness, we often think of something religious that we don’t really understand or feel. For me, before the airplane crash, holiness certainly didn’t have any place in my life. Whenever I’d hear of it, my opinion was that holiness was something uncool and old-fashioned. I mean, who needed holiness? And what is it, really? Going to church was enough holiness for me. But within a few minutes of being in heaven, everything changed. And I do mean everything. Holiness topped the list. It’s as important as the air we breathe on earth—but even more necessary because God is there.
My dictionary states that holy means “connected to God,” or “the state of being holy.” Whatever that means. This is a gross understatement—offering a two-dimensional definition about something that is infinite. The dictionary goes on to say that holiness can be “a title given to certain religious dignitaries,” which is not only a pale description but in light of heaven, entirely wrong. Even the most educated people on earth seemingly have no clue as to what real holiness is or the true state of being holy.
For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; “I dwell in the high and holy place.” Isaiah 57:15
By experiencing heaven, I now can say that holy means a lot more than is found in the dictionary or in this world. Holiness radiates out from God, filling the entire environment where He is with an intangible yet unmistakable awareness of His presence. Holy means righteous. Holy means clean. Sinless. Blemish-less. Without error. Without blind spots. Perfection.
Holiness stimulates a response. Yet a response is not mandatory. It’s not coerced or forced in any way. It’s a a free and spontaneous reply to the awesome holiness that originates from God’s presence. Holiness takes us from the natural into the supernatural.
“Let them praise Your great and awesome name—He is holy.” Psalm 99:3.
I have been in thousands of church services, meetings, and spiritual events since. Never have I experienced a holy environment on earth that offers more than a sliver of a shadow of what exists in heaven. Never before. Never since. Not even close.
We can’t earn holiness. We can’t buy it or manufacture it. A personal relationship with Jesus is the only way we can become holy in God’s eyes and experience God’s presence. Jesus is the only way to heaven. All people in heaven are children of God, reborn by the blood of Jesus—which is the single thing that gives them access to heaven and holiness.
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:5–6
Because of God’s love, He has provided a permanent solution. God longs for every person to enjoy heaven and spend eternity with Him. We will all live forever. The only question is where we will live forever. The solution is Jesus. He is the only way to a right relationship with God—the only way to holiness. His blood alone has the ability to make us holy and wash away our sin. And He is the way to eternal life in heaven. Jesus is the solution we all need.
“Even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish [in hell] but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
John 3:14–17

Right on! This is an excellent message. I am hoping readers of Heaven Is Beyond Imagination can vicariously get some of the insight you gained from being in heaven without having to die temporarily to get it. It has done that for me as I have read the fifty stories and written the book. But I admit my holiness is far below yours even though it is far above where it used to be. Seeing what the various eyewitnesses saw and felt and experienced can have a profound impact on our living holiness and that is my hope from the book. God wants us to know what He has prepared for us and that includes understanding true holiness and living accordingly. He gave me that book to produce to help communicate His majesty, glory, power, and love beyond what we can imagine to His people everywhere. I pray that it do that and I am receiving some testimonies that it is having an impact.
