Love is the connecting power between heaven and earth. John 3:16 reminds us that God sent His Son to earth, not to correct or condemn us. He sent His Son to save and deliver us because He loves us. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” And 1 John 4:19 tells us, “We love Him because He first loved us.”

The love of heaven, which I was privileged to understand to a small degree following a fatal airplane crash, changed my life and would be life-changing for anyone.

“The best unity I have ever felt on earth did not compare with the exhilarating oneness that I experienced with my spiritual family in heaven. This love… God’s love was transforming. To experience something so sacred, so profound as the boundless love of God was the most thrilling part of heaven. It satisfied a longing in the deepest part of me. My spiritual family had shared God’s perfect love with me. How could I ever be the same?” (Flight To Heaven – Bethany House 2010, Page 109: ).

Although Christmas 2020 is like no other in MUCH OF THE WORLD – – it is still an AWESOME and important time of year. Why? For one thing – many will hear about the birth of Jesus Christ. They will hear about His life, teachings, death and resurrection. It is a time of year when many might actually hear the gospel message…THAT GOD GAVE HIS SON – to die in our place – THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

Though some of you may not have as many presents under the tree or gather together with as many people as in previous years, let us remember that our focus must remain faithfully on what we are celebrating: The birth and life of Jesus Christ the Messiah, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

When circumstances are most difficult and people are questioning their life and future like never before, it is the perfect time for them to hear about the greatest gift ever given. That gift is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus.

Christmas is a time when people are often more tenderhearted. It can be an ideal time to plant seeds of love in the lives of those you meet.

Sometimes those seeds may just take the form of a kind word in the middle of shopping. Other times, you may get the opportunity to pray and minister to someone who’s struggling. But whatever the situation, keep a sharp eye out for even the smallest chance to assist others and to show the love of God.

I’ve had some outstanding experiences giving a few dollars and gospel tracts to someone in need. As they are taking the gifts, I often tell them, “This gift is from the Lord Jesus Christ, who loves you. I serve Him and He is the One who instructed me to help you today.”

It’s amazing how many people are ready to hear what you have to say when you say it in love. They are starved for someone to really care. Be that “someone” this Christmas season. Spread the Word about the peace that’s available in Jesus. Tell about His goodwill toward men and His love for them.

I am convinced that more people come to Jesus as Savior because of LOVE than anything else. More than preaching, discussion or debating. Love has more influence to get people to respond. I’m referring to heaven’s love, God’s love through you toward someone else.

We see in scripture that as Jesus saw the crowds of people gathering, to hear His teaching, or to receive healing… He was filled with compassion. And it was out of that compassionate love for the people that He ministered.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

When we imitate our Father by planting supernatural seeds of love, those seeds have an eternal impact… even if that person does not respond in a way we want them to. When we plant God’s unconditional love, we are bringing heaven to earth. The Holy Spirit continues to use that seed in the person’s life because it contains heaven’s power within it.

Share love with others this Christmas season. Love others as a gift to our Father, in honor of our Savior’s birth. This love can often be best applied by unconditionally loving unloving family members. Why not give an act of love to someone without looking for any positive response? Just give love as unto the Lord.

I John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God. And everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
