To me God’s word is unambiguous that healing is for anyone who will believe. The Bible tells us that it is God’s will for everyone to be saved, right? But why is it that all are not saved? Because we must receive salvation by faith and not all believe (Eph. 2:8-9; John 1:12). Peter tells us that we are born again by believing the word of God unto salvation. I Peter 1:23 says, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” God’s word is the the imperishable seed that accomplishes His will in our life when we agree with it by faith.

When you trust God and His word, He will do what He says He will do–save you (1 John 1:9). Did you know that the atonement of Jesus also provides for our healing? With your penalty paid—all sin and sickness have been taken care of on the cross (Isa. 53:4-5; Matt. 8:17; 1 Pet 2:24; Ps. 103:1-5). The Greek word “I save” also means “I heal.”

We often receive questions and comments from my Audio Book, “How God Heals” so in this newsletter we are reviewing some of the basic steps about how to receive healing from God.

Just as we are saved from sin through faith, healing is also received by faith… by believing God’s word (Gal. 3:3-5; James 5:14). “He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave (Ps. 107:20).” Everything and anything that you receive from God is by faith. When you are in agreement with God’s word—God will do what He says He will do, and by your faith you receive it (Heb. 11:6). After healing various people Jesus said, “Your faith has made you well.”

Why are some healed and others are not? Jesus described the fruit of faith as… receiving the “Word of God” as the seed of Divine life (Luke 8:11). The “seed” or the promises of God, are the “good seed,” Jesus said. But it’s the condition of the soil that determines the harvest. The “soil” is describing the heart or spirit of a person. Hard soil (lack of faith) choke the word. Also, the worries of this world choke the word. But according to Jesus, the seed in good soil produces 100, 60 or 30 times what was sown.

James the Apostle, pastor of the early Church at Jerusalem, describes for us “effective prayer” in relation to divine healing. James 5:14-18, “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

First, You must be convinced that it is God’s will to heal you.
If you’re seeking healing, you must be certain in your own heart, that according to God’s word, it is God’s will to heal you. Otherwise you are trying to reap a harvest where no seed has been planted and no faith lives. When a farmer does not plant the seed, it’s impossible for him to have faith for a harvest. Jesus said that the seed of the “Word of God” produces good fruit (Luke 8:15).

Keep in mind that God’s word is eternal. It does not return void, but accomplishes that which it was sent out to do.  “Jesus said to her, Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8:48 NKJV).

Over a fourth of the Gospels are concerned with healing. “A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.” (Matt. 8:2-3). Jesus is always willing to heal. It is us who must believe.

In regards to faith, the Word of God is the Voice of God. As a result, Faith is activated when the will of God is known and believed. God is willing to heal you. He makes that clear through His Word and through the earthly ministry of Jesus.

Second, Get all hindrances and sin out of the way.
“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray (James 5:13).” If you are afflicted with trials or persecutions or hurts and wounds from the past, let others help you pray. “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” (James 5:16)

Guilt can hinder faith. Also, ignorance, arrogance and shame may keep you from praying in a time of need. Holding resentment, grudges, feelings of rejection or lack of forgiveness often lead to physical ailments. Sin and disobedience can cause sickness (Mark 2:1-12; 1 Cor. 5:5; 11:27-30). Sinning against your body whether knowingly or unknowingly may be hindering your faith and keeping you from repentance.

Third, Praise is an important part of releasing your faith.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:2-4).”

“Continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name (Heb. 13:15).” God is bigger than your problems or sickness. It’s essential that you offer Him praise for who He is and what He has done before you get the blessing He has promised. Sincere praise is faith in action—expectancy that your prayers have been heard and are in the process of being manifest.

Fourth: Be fervent in prayer.
A righteous person wants what God wants, and God does not withhold anything good. Those who pray for the sick, as well as the one who is prayed for, must believe God’s promise for healing. Hebrews 10:35-36 says, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

The objective of faith is not to get well first and then believe that God has heard prayer. But it is a steadfast confidence that God is at work and that he will do what he has promised.

Most of the people who through the years have found healing from chronic diseases like cancer in our ministry experience find this healing from God by treating ALL three parts of their being… BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT. Some have the misconception that changing one’s diet is what brings about healing from God. Some believe it is only the immune system that needs treatment. This is an oversimplification and at its core is absolutely not true. I believe that the best way to see God’s handiwork in healing is by treating all three parts of the person…in this order: Spirit, Soul and Body.

Now that I’ve said that, you might expect that most of the healing that we see is progressive and gradual. For those who are experiencing cancer reversal, for those who are finding help for arthritis and Lupus or tuberculosis, heart disease and other chronic diseases, we are seeing these changes happen gradually. Once in a while God just seems to do the supernatural miracle right before our eyes. When God provides healing differently from one person to the next we still see His principles at work. The principles remain the same–just as God remains the same–yesterday, today and forever.

Remember also, with God nothing is impossible!
