We live in a fallen world where Satan uses powerful weapons against all of humanity—in particular, against those professing faith in Jesus Christ.

The need for inner healing is not usually visible, as it is damage in the soul realm. Therefore the wounds often goes undealt with—at great personal cost. Yet, inner trauma and pain is often the root of outward, visible sickness and destruction in our lives.

One of the most potent weapons Satan uses to emotionally and physically cripple a person, is trauma. Trauma comes with the territory of this fallen world; therefore, everyone has a certain amount of it in their life. Most experience a small to moderate amount. Then there are others who experienced severe trauma as a child or young adult. Sadly, I have met many adults who are still dealing with the trauma of their past or are still experiencing trauma as adults. Possibly you have experienced trauma.

When trauma occurs early in life, before a person understands the context of abuse, those victims usually blame themselves and become chronically vulnerable to defeat. Even more concerning, is when severe trauma occurs… it often opens doors in our soul realm to demonic influence and attachment. This brings additional accusation, and demoralizes us. We can unknowingly have a tormenting spirit attached to us throughout our life—even as a Christian.

This can cause us to become stuck in unforgiveness, anger, depression, poor self-esteem, negative thinking, or sickness. These are not things you want, but things Satan wants for you, in his quest to “steal, kill and destroy.”

Jesus described our enemy, the devil, very specifically when He said, he comes to kill. Satan wants to kill us with his weapons of destruction. Using things like disease, accidents, someone else’s anger, drugs, or alcohol, to name a few of his weapons of choice. Jesus also described Satan as the destroyer. Satan attempts to destroy our faith and trust in God, our relationships with others, our health, our peace, and our wellbeing.

After all, we are living in Satan’s kingdom during our temporary life on this earth. Whether short or long, we have to deal with the god of this world. The traits of our enemy—to steal, kill and destroy—are profoundly evil, and produce evil fruit in people’s lives that continues to produce negative consequences until they are neutralized—which is the purpose of this message.

If you are not willing to accept that these byproducts of trauma (as listed above), are brought to you through evil demonic spirits, then you will not be able to heal the problem. You can bandage it with good counseling, workarounds in your behavior, and controlled self-messaging. But you are still dealing with the unhealed wounds and the spirits that are attached. But praise the Lord! They are wounds that can be healed.

You may be struggling with a physical issue that needs healing, but it’s just not happening. More times than not, when there is a stubborn or chronic physical ailment, and healing doesn’t occur, there’s a reason your answer isn’t manifesting. The sickness is likely rooted in an inner wound that has been left undealt with. When a demon spirit has a foothold, and you have not taken authority to kick it out, God will not go around you to bring healing.

When a person is sinned against—causing trauma, it can open a doorway for a demonic spirit to attach itself to that person through the pain, fear, or trauma. Extreme pain—either emotional or physical—or extreme fear, can open this doorway. It is the worst tragedy, because the innocent victim being traumatized by someone or something else, becomes an unwilling victim of a spirit that has gained access and attached itself and then continues to bring torment, causing long-term distress. Chronic issues are a signal that something demonic may be causing the distress.

Jesus warned us about our enemy when He said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” John 10:10.

How does Satan steal from us? It’s more than robbing us of “things,” although he does that often. But he steals our peace, our relationships, and our health—to name the most common. And he even steals God’s Word from us—if we allow him. Much of the time, he does this before we have any idea how to combat him. So, the emotional wounds that remain, go untreated and never fully heal. And we’re at a loss to understand why life is so painful and difficult.

Because trauma is most often initiated by demonic spirits, many never learn that the perpetrator was simply used by Satanic forces to abuse and traumatize. Of course, the perpetrator willingly participated, but they were still manipulated and used.

If we focus our anger and unforgiveness on the abuser, without looking behind that person to the evil spirit that motivated them, we remain embroiled in turmoil and continually victimized by the demon that is attached to the trauma.

But whether trauma came from an abusive person, or occurred through a horrific experience, the trauma damaged the victim in their soul realm (mind, will, emotions) or their body. Yet, the answer to heal comes from the spiritual realm, as we allow Jesus to minister to our wounds in a way that brings permanent healing.

Because God is a love. And He desires peace and joy for His children, He has made a way to heal those with trauma.

If you believe that you have experienced trauma you have never dealt with at the spiritual root, today is a glorious day when you can do that. If you’ve pushed down the memories and have not wanted to revisit them, today is the day to be set free. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32).

First, be willing. Willing to address the past. Willing to accept the truth, and willing to face something terrible that Satan devised against you in your past. And know that… He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world(1 John 4:4).

To be set free and begin your healing, you must first recognize that Satan is involved. Not just theoretically, but up close and personal, through the attack of a demon against you through past trauma.

You must be willing to forgive the perpetrator (if there was one), that Satan used to carry out his evil plan against you. Forgiveness is accomplished through faith and obedience. It does not ever need to be a warm fuzzy feeling, nor does forgiveness require active relationship between you and that person. Forgiveness doesn’t have to be “fair,” and the person who hurt you never has to be worthy of it. This is about you, not them—you letting go of the sin of unforgiveness.

It’s your willingness to choose to let go of the anger, blame and accusations against another person, and your willingness to maintain that stance going forward—out of obedience. You are not letting them off the hook… you are letting yourself off the hook that was placed in you by an evil spirit when you when you were abused. When you choose to forgive, you set yourself free from the soul-tie of the person who harmed you. As long as you remain in unforgiveness, you are demonically connected to the person you harbor unforgiveness toward.

If you are willing, then repent right now before the Lord for the sin of unforgiveness and make the choice to forgive. Pray the following prayer:

Heavenly Father, I recognize that I have been in unforgiveness and realize that is a sin. Please forgive me now for sinning against You, I repent of holding onto anger, blame, and unforgiveness against ____(name)_____. I ask you to cover my sin with the blood of Jesus and I choose to walk in forgiveness and Godly love, from this day forward. I ask these things in Jesus’ name.

Now say out loud, “In Jesus’ name, I choose to forgive you __(name of person who harmed you)__. And I pray that you will repent and receive God’s forgiveness for your sins.”

Now let’s bring the wounds of trauma to the foot of the cross for healing by praying the following prayer:

Heavenly Father, I bring all my hurt, my wounds, and the damage that is in my life, to You. I bring it to the cross of Jesus and nail it there. It is no longer mine, but Yours.

According to Your Word, in Psalms 55:22, You have told me to bring my burdens to You. Your Word tells me to cast my burden on the Lord and that You will sustain me. So, I am throwing my burden on You Lord, according to Your Word. And I am asking You to sustain me, in Jesus’ name.

I recommend that you call out the name of every burden, abuse, trauma, or sin that you can think of in your life, and use your body to act out literally putting it at the feet of Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember the things you have suppressed or have never acknowledged. Then, continue praying the following prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for loving me so much. Thank you Jesus for redeeming me through your suffering on the cross. I ask you to replace every evil work that Satan has accomplished in my life, with the good gifts that You provide to Your children. Thank you Lord, Jesus.

According to your Word and in Jesus’ name, I curse and cast out, every evil spirit that has tormented me or attached itself to my life!

I rebuke and render null and void, every seed that the enemy has planted in my life, in Jesus’ name. I proclaim that the seeds Satan has planted—confusion, pain, sickness, brokenness, or sin, will NOT produce any more fruit in my life, from this day forward—in Jesus’ name.

Just as Jesus cursed the fig tree and it withered from the root, I curse every evil thing that has had a foothold in me. I command every evil seed that has been planted by the enemy to die and be gone, in Jesus’ name. I proclaim that I am set free by the blood of Jesus, my Savior and Lord.

Father, I ask that you fill me fully with Your Holy Spirit right now. I ask in faith for Your good gift, and believe that I have received it, in Jesus’ name. Thank you Lord. Amen

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13).

By praying these prayers, you have cast out any evil spirit that has ever gained a foothold in your life. You have repented of sin and cursed the seeds Satan planted in your life. You have asked God for the gift of the Holy Spirit to fill the vacated spaces left by the evil spirits who let go and left. Now the Holy Spirit will guide you, empower you, and lead you into truth.

Daily, thank the Lord for healing your wounds and filling your life with His blessings. Thank the Holy Spirit for leading you in truth and on the path God has set before you.

Daily, read the Bible. And as you begin, ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate God’s Word to your spirit. Enjoy the newness of life!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
