Most people imagine Heaven from an earthly perspective. And that makes sense, because we use what we already know. But this causes people to imagine Heaven like earth, only perfect—to that person’s way of thinking.
And although the earth does reflect heaven, the earth is now fallen, and has been for thousands of years. This fallen condition causes it to reflect Satan’s nature more than God’s. It is only through God’s people that His ways and His nature can be reflected in the earth.
“For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body” Romans 8:22-23.
Satan has created a new “normal” that causes most people to think backwards and respond in the flesh more than with their born-again spirit. It is “normal” in this world, to believe what we see, hear, and feel with our natural senses, rather than what God has said in His Word.
Most people tend to believe science and facts over what is true according to God’s Word. As I have said on several occasions, fact and truth are not the same thing. Truth is God’s word on the subject and fact is the world’s.
Satan has created the systems that operates in this world. They may look good on the surface—have a nice façade—but do they reflect Jesus? It is only the people who trust in the Lord who reflect God. All else is owned temporarily by the devil.
We must look at the fruits to know if it is good or if it is evil at its root. Is the cross of Jesus and the salvation message present? Is there unity? Are there fruits of the Spirit visible? As Christians, we are instructed to identify what is in agreement with Heaven, and what is not.
“For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” Luke 6:43-45.
If we are walking in the Spirit of God, then we should be able to discern what is true about anything and everything we deal with in this world. Through the Holy Spirit, we have the Spirit of discernment available to us.
“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:14-16.
Below, I share an excerpt from my book, Visiting Heaven, about some of what I learned during my heavenly journey.
While in Heaven, I somehow realized that knowledge, as I had known it on earth, is flawed and did not seem to be of great significance. Truth is what prevails and has supremacy in Heaven. Knowledge is only the biproduct of truth.
When I had questions or needed understanding about anything I encountered, it seemed to be imparted automatically and directly into my heart in absolute completeness. Once the revelation was revealed in my heart, my mind became aware of what my heart already knew.
Just one of the things I seemed to “understand” was that heavenly order was everywhere and in everything. I understood that God’s will was perfection and His word was the source of all creation. As I considered all that I had seen, I understood that the word of God was, and is, the foundation for everything created. God was the heart of heaven, His love, His will, His perfect and divine order.
The multitudes of angels and people were responding to the will of God and acting in perfect order to accomplish His will. Even light—the way it traveled and reflected—was highly complex, yet mathematical and precise. The melodies and the rhythms of the music were all in perfect order. Nothing out of sync.
One of the very important truths about Heaven was that no part of heaven was independent of the whole. There was complete unity.
On earth division and differences seem to be more and more prevalent, driving people away from one another. It reminds me of a herd of wild animals in nature, when they are separated and isolated from the community, they become easy prey for their enemy.
There is a central theme in heaven that is of the highest level—the cross. The awareness of the cross is why I was there. It’s why everyone was there. Our interactions and very presence in heaven were because of the cross.
God sent Jesus to earth as a sacrifice for mankind. That gift was the single most important gift ever given to the world and it was why I was standing in heaven. I finally and fully understood the value and great sacrifice that allowed my presence in such a holy place.
I had always heard about the cross and the crucifixion of Jesus. But had never fully grasp the significance of that action. Jesus controlled it from start to finish. God had sent His Son to the world to save the world, but Jesus had to choose to obey and remain in agreement with that goal.
The most important thing Jesus ever did throughout His earthly ministry was to willingly be abused and crucified for all the sins of mankind. He was the only perfect sacrifice that every existed. Perfect and innocent enough to pay the massive price of sin for all mankind, from the beginning of man to the last person who will ever be born into the world.
The cross was Heaven’s perfect plan to bring countless numbers of people into God’s family. To save mankind from eternal separation and punishment. It was the world’s way of escape—the cross.
Sadly, this world and the body of Christ is living in such a contrast to what I witnessed in Heaven. The cross is largely relegated to a symbol, or a religion, instead of remaining the central theme of our new life and eternal future.
There is a powerful reason we are taught to re-train our minds when we are born-again. This world has been our teacher and still has a powerful influence on all that we see, hear and experience daily. Only through God’s Word do we re-train our minds with the mind of Christ, and establish our hearts in agreement with God.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” Romans 12:2.
With God, nothing is impossible!

Another well-done article. Thank you. I see this conflict myself, that the world is more inline with Satan than with the Holy Spirit, who is frequently relegated to superstition or myth. I am grieved by the people I know or hear who are not aware they are following the destroyer rather than the savior. Yes, the cross is the most important thing there is, being the means Jesus used to purchase our salvation and our ticket to the wonderful heavenly kingdom of the Creator. I have not seen heaven directly as you have, but through your testimony and that of forty-nine others I have read I have enough of a glimpse of eternal values that I strive toward accomplishing them in my life.
One thing I would like to take exception to is your paragraph: “Most people tend to believe science and facts over what is true according to God’s Word. Truth is God’s word on the subject and fact is the world’s.” Being a scientist myself (former computer science professor and lifelong avocational general science student), I see things a little differently from what you are saying. First it is the same Creator of the universe that is also the author of the Holy Scriptures. He is one and the same being, who is not capable of deception or duplicity. What we discover in the universe must be in accord with the revealed Word or we have misunderstood something. Sometimes it is our misinterpretation of what God has told us in His Word, and other times it is incorrect identification of our observations of the universe. Scientists discover through observation and experimentation facts that are true about the universe. The observations may not actually be true and then they are wrong; they are not facts. While these observations are truth if correctly perceived, the theories developed to explain the facts are not truths. Theories must be tested with more observations and experiments to see if additional facts are supported by the theory. If so we go on, but if not we reject theory or refine it. But a theory never becomes truth and this is where the evolutionists fail. Darwin himself recognized the limitations of his theory even though at the time it seemed to account for known facts. However, in The Origin of Species he identified some ways his theory could break down. Since his time, numerous examples of facts he thought might be possible that would negate his theory have been discovered. So his theory as proposed has failed. Unfortunately, the Theory of Evolution as currently believed based on Darwin’s work has met with broad acceptance because it seemingly gives justification to those who wish to cancel God’s existence and authority. It does not, but that does not dissuade those who are rebelling against the Truth.
Yes, Truth is God’s, but the facts in the world may be truths or deceptions. The fact that there is a gravitational force on Earth is a truth born out by facts discovered by observation and experimentation. It is not a theory, it is truth. Although since it is an artifact of this universe God has created, it may not apply to any other creation of His. (Especially, from what eyewitnesses say, it is not a fact or truth of heaven.) Facts and truths are not disjoint. Facts that are firmly established are truths and truths lead to facts. The fact that the tomb is empty is a truth; the tomb of Joseph in which Jesus was laid is indeed empty, a verifiable fact and therefore a truth. The Bible tells us that Jesus rose from the grave. This truth is the same one as the observation that the tomb is empty. So in this case God’s truth and the world’s fact are the same. Sometimes, though, God’s Truth has no counterpart in the world’s facts, such as the truth that our prayers go directly to the Throne Room of God and are every one taken into account and answered one way or another at some moment in Earth time.
When I study science topics, I am always aware of how the observations line up with God’s truth. Any time there seems to be an inconsistency, I study God’s Word again to see if I have misunderstood something, or I learn more about the observation. Since the God of the Bible designed and created the universe we are in, it and our understanding of God’s Word have to agree. Sometimes I am able to see something about the universe that others miss because I adhere to this principle. Sometimes this leads me to a deeper understanding of the Bible.
