Imagine that you just stood up to speak in front of a group. And as soon as you opened your mouth, a disruptive incident occurs as a demon manifests itself publicly. Immediately your authority is challenged.

You confront the demon with strong, powerful words, given to you by God, Himself. You do not hesitate, but speak with strength and authority that lets onlookers know who is really in charge. The demon that had intimidated the crowd moments earlier, abandons the person they were using and disappears.

No one in the room had ever witnessed anything like this before—the actual successful confrontation of a demon. But because you conducted yourself with uncommon authority and strength, you are instantly catapulted into the limelight. News of this exploit rapidly spreads throughout the entire region. This is exactly what happened to Jesus as He taught publicly for the first time in a synagogue in Galilee, as recorded by the apostle Mark (Mark 1:21-28).

From that moment on, and throughout the next three and a half years of ministry, Jesus dealt successfully with demons wherever He encountered them—and He encountered them often.

Toward the end of those years of ministry, Jesus sent a message to Herod asserting that He would continue to do three things (according to Luke 13:32); preach the gospel, cast out demons and heal the sick.

The ministry of Jesus did not stop at Calvary. In fact, Jesus continues to minister to this day! How, might you ask, when He is no longer here? Just prior to His departure and assent to Heaven, Jesus gave what we call “The Great commission,” when He transferred His authority to preach the gospel, cast out demons, and heal the sick, over to His followers.

In fact, I cannot find any evidence in Scripture that would ever nullify that command. In spite of Jesus giving that commission and imparting supernatural authority to carry it out, today His followers display a reluctance to engage in confronting demons, and providing deliverance for those who are afflicted by them.

If you believe that demonic deliverance is only to be conducted by a small, elect group of specially trained ministers, you would be mistaken. That is never what Jesus communicated. Nor would it be true that the deliverance from demons has passed away, or is no longer relevant.

In Jesus own words, it is recorded in Mark 16:17, And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons…”

It was clear that Jesus intended that any follower of His would do the work that He did as His representative until He returned. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12).

It appears obvious that Satan has a very specific and personal agenda—to oppose and suppress the ministry of deliverance over demons. And why wouldn’t he? These demons are his agents, assisting him in accomplishing his agenda on the earth and against the people of the earth.

Satan is a creature of spiritual darkness, and as such will go to extreme lengths to keep the true nature of his activities—even his very existence, concealed. If he can keep people—especially Christians—blinded to his tactics, the way remains open and unhindered for his destructive purposes.

To accomplish his goals, two very specific weapons dominate Satan’s arsenal—Fear and Ignorance. Satan continues spreading his propaganda through horror movies, rumors, and false information—even within the churches. Most pastors and Christian leaders are ignorant and intimidated by the idea of dealing with demons. After all, demons seem unpredictable and weird to most Christians, so why risk dealing with them?

Christians often perceive the demonic in the same category as ghosts. However, once a believer knows the truth, and understands the authority they have as a born-again believer… the demons are the ones that dread and fear the Christian.

The ministry of demonic deliverance should be brought down  to the level of everyday life, because that’s where the demons operate. Jesus used a very uncomplicated and practical approach when He delivered someone by casting out a demon. There were no special religious rituals to be followed, instead, it was simply about understanding authority.

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you” Luke 10:19.

Jesus did emphasize that His casting out demons served to demonstrate two significant spiritual truths. The first reveals the existence of two opposing Kingdoms: The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Satan.

The second truth reveals that God has already won complete victory over Satan’s kingdom! It is not surprising, therefore, that Satan does everything possible to conceal these truths from anyone who could use this information against him. Satan is desperate to continue to operate through deception and lies for as long as possible.

In the last days, the increase of demons is growing greater. Society is continually being bombarded with the temptation to open doorways that give demons legal access into their lives. The youth are primary targets, and being seduced at a rapid pace. Satan is using more opportunities than ever, through media, books, and socially acceptable entertainment, to entice people to accept his invitation and supernatural power.

As a believer, if you have not prepared yourself to deal with demons, it is time to recognize that you are called to do as Jesus did. YOU have available to you authority. This authority is Jesus. He defeated Satan and took the keys of Satan’s kingdom when He rose from the dead. Since that time, every demon on earth knows that they must obey the authority of Jesus. Whether commanded directly from Him, or from someone who is redeemed by the blood of Jesus and has been given His authority—to represent Him—and that is every born-again believer.

We must understand that “The Great Commission” was given to us for this current age. To preach the gospel, cast out demons, and heal the sick. Whether in our own lives or in the lives of others, we are called to be His representatives. And we were given His authority to carry out that ministry.

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18).

With God, nothing is impossible!

HEAVEN PROJECT: Every person is precious to God and that also means YOU. Let’s join together to reach more. Please prayerfully give today to help us reach more souls for God’s kingdom. Thank you!
Standing on the corners of our city, we remind people that there is only ONE way to heaven—Jesus.

The Car d’Alene event was a huge success. Many stopped to talk and we were able to share Jesus with many. Thank you for all who prayed. Your participation helped us break through every barrier to lift up Jesus.
Following the outreach on the streets, there is a Bible teaching and a time of “Questions and Answers” to help new believers and Christians grow in a deeper understanding of who God is, and how He works in our lives. God is blessing and multiplying. Thank you for your prayers for new souls.
