Have you ever been hurt by the words someone has spoken toward you? Or been comforted by someone’s kind words? Jesus taught a revolutionary principle in Mark 11 about the power of words. This dynamic truth is life-changing and supernatural, but contrary to the way the world thinks and operates.
Look at Mark 11:23. “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Jesus did NOT say, “Whoever shall talk to God about the mountain.” He said, we should speak directly TO the mountain … in order to get the desired result.
From an earthly point of view, that sounds foolish doesn’t it? But it is exactly correct from Heaven’s perspective. Satan has tried to strip the people of God from tapping into Heaven’s supernatural force in the words we speak. A force that is provided to Christians to help fulfill what Jesus taught in the Lord’s prayer–to be an agent of bringing God’s will to earth as it is in Heaven.
Animals cannot speak. Only people have been given that ability. People who God created in His image and impowered to accomplish His will in the earth. We do that by following the template that God gave us and imitating the behavior that Jesus modeled for us. Ephesians 5:1 instructs us… “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.”
