Have you ever wondered…
Why do I still struggle with fear?
Why do I keep falling into the same temptation?
Why do I feel spiritually dry even though I read my Bible?
If you’ve ever asked those questions, you’re not alone.
I’ve heard from countless believers who sincerely love God but feel stuck. They pray, attend church, and read Scripture, yet they aren’t experiencing the peace, joy, and victory they know God promises.
If that’s where you are today, I have good news.
The problem isn’t that God has stopped speaking.
The problem may be that we’ve forgotten how to receive what He’s already said.
Imagine a man sitting at a banquet table filled with everything he needs to live, yet he slowly starves because he never takes a bite.
As unbelievable as that sounds, it’s exactly what happens to many Christians.
We own Bibles.
We hear sermons.
We know Bible stories.
But knowing God’s Word isn’t the same as feeding on God’s Word.
And that one simple truth can change everything.
One of the most remarkable promises in Scripture is found here:
Proverbs 4:20-22
“My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.”
You’re Feeding Something Every Day
Every day, you’re feeding something.
You feed your body with food.
You feed your mind with what you watch, read, and listen to.
But what are you feeding your spirit?
Many Christians are spiritually weak—not because they don’t love God—but because they aren’t consistently nourishing the part of them that was created to know Him.
God’s Word isn’t just another book. It’s spiritual food.
When you approach it with an open heart, you’re doing far more than reading words on a page. You’re allowing God Himself to speak into your life.
I like to think of it this way: reading God’s Word with a teachable heart is like sitting at the feet of Jesus and listening to Him personally. The Bible suddenly becomes more than information—it becomes a conversation with the One who knows you best.
That’s when real change begins.
Not because you’ve read another chapter.
But because God’s truth begins replacing the lies you’ve believed.
If you’re battling fear, confusion, discouragement, or a habit you can’t seem to overcome, don’t lose heart. The answer isn’t simply trying harder. It’s allowing God’s Word to renew your heart while the Holy Spirit brings those truths to life within you.
God never intended you to fight life’s battles alone. He has given you His Word to guide you and His Spirit to strengthen and empower you to overcome.
When those two are working together in your life, something remarkable happens.
You don’t just learn the truth.
You begin to live it.
Don’t Just Read It… Receive It
If you’ve been wondering why your faith feels weak, why fear keeps winning, or why you don’t sense God’s presence the way you once did, don’t assume God has moved.
He’s still speaking.
The better question is this:
Am I truly receiving what He’s already said?
Have I walked in the truth He has already given me?
God never intended His Word to become another item on your daily checklist.
He intended it to become life.
When you open your Bible tomorrow morning, don’t rush through a chapter just to say you’ve done it.
Slow down.
Read a few verses.
Ask Him questions.
Listen for His response.
If your spirit isn’t strong enough, or tuned correctly to hear His voice, keep talking to Him until you start hearing.
Meditate.
That’s a powerful word. Its definition is likened to a cow chewing its cud. Picture that. Chewing and chewing for a long time until every nutrient is absorbed.
Let God’s Word settle deep into your heart. You keep it there by meditating on it and applying it in your daily life.
Remember, you’re not merely reading ink on a page.
You’re sitting at the feet of Jesus, allowing Him to teach you personally.
That changes everything. Because He knows YOU.
Here’s My Challenge to You
For the next seven days, spend at least fifteen uninterrupted minutes with God.
And before you read a single verse–pray something like this:
“Father, thank You for Your Word. Open my heart to receive it and understand it. Holy Spirit, teach me. Show me what You want me to see for my life today, and help me live it. Let Your Word become life inside me.”
Then read slowly.
Don’t worry about how many chapters you finish.
Focus instead on what God is saying.
Take one verse you’ve read with you throughout the day.
Think about it.
Pray over it.
Live it.
You may be surprised how quickly God begins to change not only the way you think—but the way you live.
One Final Thought
The world is full of voices competing for your attention.
Fear has a voice.
Discouragement has a voice.
Your circumstances have a voice.
But God’s voice is the only one that brings life.
His Word still strengthens the weary.
It still renews the discouraged.
It still exposes lies.
It still heals wounded hearts.
It still points us to Jesus.
And it still has the power to transform an ordinary life into an extraordinary testimony.
So don’t simply own a Bible.
Don’t simply read a Bible.
Receive it.
Feed on it.
Treasure it.
Because when the Word of God moves from your eyes… to your heart… it will begin to show up in your life.
And that’s when everything starts to change.
Remember, with God, nothing is impossible.
