Have you ever imagined what it would feel like to walk across a wild savanna, where lions roam and danger lurks with every step? If you knew the threat was real, wouldn’t you stay alert—armed and ready?
That’s exactly the imagery Scripture uses when it warns us: “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8 AMP)
This world is not neutral ground. It’s enemy territory—ruled by satan, who wants nothing more than to devour, deceive, and destroy. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…”(John 10:10)
But Jesus didn’t leave us defenseless. He gave us a strategy, a warning system, and powerful weapons. Yet, many of His followers seem unaware—or unprepared—for the spiritual battle around them.
The Wounded Church
Too often, Christians walk around spiritually wounded—pierced by the enemy’s arrows and unaware of how to fight back. “…above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” (Ephesians 6:16)
These fiery darts show up as sickness, anxiety, insecurity, and deception. And when unchallenged, they create access points for more destruction. It’s not just discomfort—it’s warfare. And sadly, in many churches, there’s little training on how to engage the enemy or how to protect ourselves with the spiritual armor God provides.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God…” (Ephesians 6:10-13)
This isn’t optional gear—it’s survival equipment.
The Bullfight Distraction
Picture a bullfight: the bull is powerful but easily distracted by the red cape. Meanwhile, the matador waits for the right moment to strike. This is how satan operates—waving distractions, stirring division, tempting with shiny lies, and then striking when we’re unaware.
We’re in a fight for our eternity. Victory isn’t automatic—it’s a result of obedience, truth, and preparation.
Truth: Your Greatest Weapon
We live in a world where knowledge is celebrated. But spiritual knowledge brings accountability. Every new truth we discover demands a response. Will we change? Repent? Align with it?
“We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God…” (2 Corinthians 10:5-6)
Spiritual maturity means testing every voice—whether it comes from a pastor, a news anchor, or a medical report—against God’s Word. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher. And God’s Word is our filter.
The Narrow Way Still Leads to Life
Jesus didn’t offer one option among many—He is the ONLY way. In a world full of false paths and feel-good beliefs, He invites us to walk the narrow road that leads to life. But it takes commitment. Awareness. Readiness to fight.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
We are not at peace with the world. We are passing through it. And while we’re here, we’ve been given instructions to follow, weapons to use, and truth to live by.
Takeaway:
The enemy is hunting, but you are not helpless. Get in the Word. Wear your armor. And remember—victory belongs to those who are prepared to fight God’s way.
With God, nothing is impossible,
thank you for sending this piece out, what a good reminder that we are always in a battle. our enemy is always there coming up with deeper more hurtful ways to fight us. I feel this very real right now, as I was peacefully living my life then it seams that everything turns upside down. the only way I will get through this is God’s power, and I just keep telling myself that “there is an amazing plan and it is working for good but I just can’t see the good always. God doesn’t call us to understand, but to TRUST! God please help us all.
