One of the simplest truths in Scripture regarding prayer, is also one of the easiest to overlook.

Many believers genuinely love God, yet struggle in prayer because they are praying outside of His revealed will. The good news is that God has not hidden His will from us. He has revealed it in His Word.

When we pray according to God’s will, we can pray with confidence—knowing that He hears us.

I encourage you to build your faith on an accurate, literal translation of Scripture. God’s Word has never changed. And whenever you encounter a passage you don’t fully understand, don’t guess. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you. He delights in leading God’s children into truth.

Too often we “have not because we ask not”—or because we ask without first discovering what God has already promised.

“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

When Jesus taught us to pray, He revealed the heartbeat of Heaven.

God’s name is holy. His kingdom is advancing. And His perfect will is that what already exists in Heaven would increasingly be seen here on earth.

These words are far more than a prayer to recite. They are a declaration of alignment.

When we pray God’s Word, we are agreeing with God’s will. We are inviting Heaven’s order into our lives. And where God’s order is welcomed, His peace, His healing, His wisdom, and His power are free to work.

God’s will is never weak. His purposes are never uncertain.

You’ve heard me say many times, “Sometimes we think we’re waiting on God, but more often than not, He’s waiting on us.”

Perhaps He is waiting for us to believe His promises… to obey His voice… to forgive someone… to surrender an area of our lives… or simply to pray what He has already spoken.

God is not looking for reasons to delay His will. He desires to accomplish it. Yet in His wisdom, He often develops our faith and our character along the way.

When we sincerely pray, “Your will be done,” we should not be simply deferring to God to decide about a given situation. We should know His will based on His Word and His will in Heaven. Then we declare it, giving it authority in the situation we are praying about. We are proclaiming that sickness does not have the final word, darkness cannot overcome His light, and every circumstance must ultimately submit to the authority of Jesus Christ. We are aligning with God’s will in heaven and calling it forth to the earth.

Heaven is not merely a future destination.

It is God’s reality breaking into our lives today as we trust Him and obey His Word.

So today, pray boldly.

Pray for His Kingdom to come.

Pray for His will to be done.

Pray His promises to be manifest.

Then expect Him to work.

Because God’s Word is God’s will.

God’s Word never fails. It is eternal.

And the same Word that has transformed countless lives throughout history is still able to transform yours—today.

God’s Word is God’s will.
