God’s Word brings love, life, and healing. Throughout Scripture, we see God revealing Himself as a God who saves, delivers, restores, and heals. And nowhere is that revelation clearer than in the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus. Let’s consider the healing ministry of Jesus, and what it means to us today.

Jesus showed us the heart of the Father in action.

Again and again, people came to Him broken, suffering, oppressed, and sick—and Jesus responded with compassion and authority. He loved them. He taught them. He delivered them. He healed them. His ministry gives us powerful reason to believe that healing was not incidental to His mission. It was an integral part of what He came to reveal.

GOD STILL HEALS TODAY

In this blog, I want to examine the overwhelming scriptural evidence for believing that God still heals today. The same Jesus who healed in the pages of the Bible has not changed.

Under the Old Covenant, mankind did not possess the authority in Christ that believers would later receive through Jesus. Sin had brought death and suffering into the world, and humanity desperately needed a Redeemer.

Then Jesus came.

Through His example, including His death and resurrection, everything changed.

Jesus told His followers:

“…They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
— Mark 16:18

That is an incredible and powerful promise.

Jesus was teaching His followers to minister to the sick in His name and to expect God to work.

“If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
— John 14:14

That should challenge us to ask for more from God.

Instead of allowing our experiences—or disappointments—to determine what we believe about God, we should continually return to what Jesus actually said and did.

The effects of sin are powerful. Sickness, fear, oppression, and death are realities in this fallen world. But none of them is greater than Jesus Christ.

The name of Jesus is greater.

The Word of God is greater.

And the power of the Holy Spirit living within the believer is greater.

JESUS IS THE WORD

John 1 teaches us that Jesus is the Word made flesh. We cannot separate Christ from His Word. When we fill our hearts with Scripture, when we believe what God has spoken and act upon His Word, our faith becomes anchored in something far more dependable than circumstances, symptoms, emotions, or fear.

Spiritual opposition is also real. Scripture warns us that we have an adversary and that our struggle is not merely against flesh and blood. But Scripture never tells Christians to be frightened of Satan. Instead, we are told to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil. When we do that, Satan must flee.

Jesus has already won the decisive victory.

The Holy Spirit is our Helper.

Jesus said:

“I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
— John 14:18

God kept that promise. He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within believers.

To lead us into truth, to teach us, strengthen us, and help us live according to the ways of God.

I sometimes think of these truths through the eyes of a pilot.

Gravity is real. I would never deny it. But there are aerodynamic laws that… when properly understood and applied, enable an aircraft to overcome the downward pull of gravity and fly.

In a similar way, Scripture reveals spiritual realities that are greater than what we can see with our natural eyes. God is not limited by the circumstances that appear impossible to us in this natural realm.

That is why we should never build our theology solely around what has—or has not—happened to us personally.

Our experiences are real, and sometimes they are painful. There are unanswered prayers we do not yet understand. There are outcomes that can break our hearts. But our experiences don’t rewrite Scripture.

GOD’S WORD IS OUR FOUNDATION

God’s Word must remain our solid foundation.

By His Spirit, God caused His Word to be written so that we could know Him, understand His character, learn His ways, and place His promises within our hearts.

And through Jesus Christ, believers have been given spiritual authority. This authority is not to exalt ourselves. It’s not given in order to command whatever we personally desire in our flesh. Authority is given to stand against the works of darkness and pray boldly in the name of Jesus, that His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Jesus said:

“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 18:18–19

These are extraordinary words. We find hope in them… but we must actually believe they are true.

We should approach them humbly—but we should not explain them away.

Regardless of what we have experienced personally, our calling is still to trust God, believe His Word, pray in faith, and leave the results in His hands.

So, if you are battling sickness today, don’t surrender your confidence in God’s Word.

Keep looking to Jesus.

Keep filling your heart with His Promises.

Keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep acting in faith, what you believe in your heart.

And keep your confidence anchored—not in your own ability to produce a miracle, but in the goodness, mercy, and power of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is coming again. And He’s coming again soon!

OFF-GRID NEXT STEP: SAFE WINTER STORAGE

Dear friends,

Off-grid living requires certain essential supplies and equipment that must be protected from the weather. With winter approaching, a small storage shed is needed to safely house these necessities. A good used wooden shed has been located nearby. Including pick up, transportation, and setup. Approximately $1,450 is needed to make this possible after basic expenses are met.

If the Lord puts it on your heart to help with this next step, any gift—large or small—would be deeply appreciated. We’re simply moving forward one practical step at a time as God provides. Thank you.
