Dear Friend,

It doesn’t take much effort to recognize that we are living in difficult and uncertain times. Moral confusion is everywhere. Long-held values are being challenged. Families, institutions, and even nations seem increasingly unstable. Scripture actually gives a name to days like these.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.”
—2 Timothy 3:1 (NKJV)

The word perilous means dangerous or fierce—and it accurately describes the spiritual climate we are witnessing today. Yet God never reveals danger to frighten His people. He reveals it so we can understand the times and know how to live wisely within them.

Why We Shouldn’t Panic

While the world may appear to be unraveling, heaven is not caught off guard. Jesus is not surprised by the condition of this age. In fact, Scripture teaches that these conditions were to be expected as we move closer to the return of Jesus.

The purpose of the gospel has never been to rescue a collapsing civilization. Its purpose is to rescue people—men, women, and children—from the consequences of sin and to prepare them for the kingdom that is coming.

That perspective changes everything. When you understand where history is heading, you don’t live in fear—you live with focus.

The Spiritual Tone of Our Time

Paul goes on in 2 Timothy 3 to describe what people would be like in the last days: self-focused, pleasure-driven, prideful, and often resistant to truth. One of the most telling descriptions is this:

“Having a form of godliness but denying its power.”
—2 Timothy 3:5 (NKJV)

There is no shortage of religion in our culture, but there is a growing absence of genuine spiritual power. Many want the appearance of faith without submission to Christ. God’s call to believers is not to blend in, but to remain anchored in truth and alive in spiritual conviction and power.

When you live that way, you will often find a separation occur between you and others, even those who call themselves Christians. During perilous times, we are tested and tried to strengthen us and better prepare us for what’s ahead.

“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;”
—1 Peter 4:12 (NKJV)

Staying Grounded When Truth Is Challenged

We are living in an age of information overload. Knowledge is increasing, but truth is often diluted or dismissed. This makes it more important than ever for believers to know what they believe—and why.

Paul’s instruction is simple and steady:

“But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of.”
—2 Timothy 3:14 (NKJV)

In times of confusion, stability comes from staying rooted in God’s Word and connected to God’s people. Scripture was never meant to be a decoration on a shelf—it is meant to shape how we think, live, and respond to the world around us.

That’s why gathering with other believers matters more, as the days grow darker:

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together… and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
—Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV)

What God Has Given Us

God has not left us unprepared. Everything we need to live faithfully in these days has already been provided in His Word.

“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world.…”
—2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV)

When we are saturated with the Word of God, guided by the Spirit of God, and active in the work God has given us, we can live with confidence—no matter how uncertain the world becomes. We are never alone.

A Final Thought

These may be dangerous days—but they are also meaningful days. God has placed us here on purpose. If you do not yet know Jesus personally, His invitation still stands:

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
—Romans 10:13 (NKJV)

This is not a time for fear.
It is a time for clarity, faithfulness, and hope.
