Does your faith falter when prayers seem unanswered?
What happens when circumstances turn against you? Do you sigh and think, “Well, that didn’t work.” If so, you’re not alone. Many sincere believers struggle with this. They want great faith, but when the answer doesn’t come in the way or timing they expect, they decide faith must not work. But the truth is—faith always works when it’s real Bible faith. The key is learning how faith actually works.

What Is Faith, really?

The Bible defines faith clearly in Hebrews 11:1 (AMP):
“Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].”

Faith is confidence in something we’re hoping for, even before we can see it. Think of it like receiving the title deed to a house. If someone handed you a legal document saying the house was yours, you’d believe it—whether or not you’ve seen the house yet. But if you never take possession, you’ll never enjoy its benefits.

Faith works the same way. God’s promises are your title deeds. You may not see them yet, but they are legally yours according to His Word.

Step 1: Anchor Your Faith in Truth

Faith only works when it’s based on truth.
If God’s Word says something, it’s true—no matter what you feel, see, or hear.

For example, Scripture declares that Jesus paid for your healing:

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

That’s truth. Facts may say something different, but truth never changes. Circumstances do. Facts can change. But the Word of God remains forever.

So start by aligning your faith with what God says, not what the world reports.

Step 2: Establish Your Faith

Faith grows strong when you bring your prayers, words, and actions into agreement with God’s promise.

  1. Pray and Praise in Faith
Ask God once for what you need. Then shift into praise and thanksgiving—continually thanking Him for the answer.
Repeatedly begging for the same thing often reveals doubt, not faith.

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” – James 1:6–8 (NKJV)

Once you’ve asked, your faith is released every time you thank and praise Him for the answer.

  1. Speak in Agreement with God’s Word

“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” – Matthew 12:37 (NKJV)

Your words either release faith or cancel it. What you speak reflects what you believe.
Faith speaks the promise—never the problem.

  1. Act on What You Believe

“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” – James 2:17 (NKJV)

If you truly believe God’s Word, your actions will reflect it. Faith is more than a feeling—it’s obedience in motion.

  1. Allow Correction from the Holy Spirit
Faith also means cooperating with God’s design. If your lifestyle is working against His principles, part of your healing or breakthrough may come through repentance and obedience.

For example, praying for healing from lung disease while continuing to smoke resists the answer God wants to bring. God will not override your will.
Faith works best when we’re teachable and willing to change.

Faith in Action: The Story of Joshua and Caleb

In Numbers 13, God promised Israel a land flowing with milk and honey. But when the spies returned from scouting the land, ten of them reported, “There are giants in the land.”

The giants represented circumstances—real, visible facts. But Joshua and Caleb saw beyond them. They said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” – Numbers 13:30 (NKJV)

They acknowledged the facts but refused to let them overrule what God had promised–the truth. The others allowed fear to dominate—and fear is the opposite of faith. As a result, they missed their promise, while Joshua and Caleb lived to inherit it.

Faith and fear cannot coexist. One always cancels the other.

The Nature of True Faith

You don’t need faith when everything looks possible. Faith thrives when there’s resistance—when the odds are against you.

True faith doesn’t put deadlines on God. It doesn’t crumble when a bad report comes. It’s anchored in truth, not timelines.

“Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.” – Romans 3:4 (NKJV)

Faith says, “I believe God’s Word—no matter what I see, feel, or hear.”
Faith has no contingencies. It doesn’t say, “I’ll believe until next week.”
It simply believes—period.

The Faith That Gets Results

Faith that works is:

  • Rooted in God’s unchanging Word.
  • Spoken with confidence.
  • Backed by obedient action.
  • Sustained through praise and perseverance.

When all three—your words, actions, and heart—agree with God’s promise, the result will come.

God has given every believer the ability to develop this kind of faith.
And that faith—Bible faith—is more than enough for your victory.

And remember, with God, nothing is impossible!
