Now… let’s step into this week’s message.
Dear friend,
As we enter Thanksgiving week, many of us pause to reflect on the blessings of God, the people we love, and the journey that has shaped who we are today. But for some, this season also stirs memories of disappointment, loss, hurt, or betrayal. Living in a fallen world means each of us has walked through experiences that have left marks on our hearts.
Every trial we endure shapes our perspective and influences who we become. But unless we balance the tragedies of life with the unchanging truth of God’s Word, we risk becoming bitter, angry, hard-hearted, or faithless. This world is not our home—and if you are a follower of Jesus, Scripture says you are not of this world.
During this season of gratitude, it’s easy to embrace blessings, yet harder to be thankful in times of struggle. But misplaced expectations can deceive us. Religious traditions sometimes teach that if we do “all the right things,” God somehow owes us a particular outcome. And when life doesn’t go the way we expected, some become angry at God, believing He “allowed” something harmful and is no longer worthy of loyalty.
But that mindset reveals a misunderstanding of who God really is.
God has already given us everything—Himself. Jesus willingly took our place, offering eternal life with God, and abundant life here on earth. That abundance is far more than material gain; it is love, peace, joy, forgiveness, and freedom from sin’s power. These gifts are priceless. They are the treasures this world can never give.
So, this Thanksgiving, whatever your circumstances—good or difficult—set your heart on this unshakable truth:
“ I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
— Galatians 2:20
And with confidence and gratitude, may your heart declare:
“I am God’s.”
We are deeply thankful for you.
In His boundless love,
Your brother and sister in Christ,
Dale & Paula Black
