Why does God tell us to obey Him and not to sin? God does not instruct us to do one thing and not do another because He’s mean, or as a test of our faithfulness.
God is love. So everything He does is out of love—He warns us to protect us, He asks us to obey Him so He can bless us.
We open the doors in our life for blessing or cursing according to Deuteronomy 30:19. “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;“
God is telling us that the choice is ours. He never demands that we obey. But He warns His children that there are results for our choices. Every choice we make has blessings or curses attached. When we open a door with our choice, it is not only we who step through, but something from the other side can also step through.
Due to the fact that we currently live in a fallen world, ruled by Satan, sin tempts us regularly. But God has warned us that there are consequences for participating in sin. Too many Christians do not understand the legalities of the spiritual realm. They think they are in protected. Even if they participate in what God labels sin, they believe they can sidestep any consequences through repentance.
It is true that sincere repentance brings forgiveness, where God is concerned. The reality is that if we are offering sincere repentance, it means we deeply regret ever doing what we did, and have no intention of ever doing it again.
But with sin, comes consequences. When we open the door to sin and willingly participate in it, Satan takes advantage of our agreement with his temptation. It’s not simply us choosing to sin and choosing to agree with sinning, and it ends there. Not at all. We should be aware that when we open that door to Satan, something now has legal ground to come back toward us from Satan’s side. It’s a two-way street.
Sin is a door that allows Satan access into our life. Righteousness is a door that opens access God.
As an example, God instructs us to avoid witchcraft in every form—such as interacting with the dead through a séance, or playing with something like a Ouija board. As harmless as we might believe these are, the reason God alerts us to these dangers is that they are a two-way street. When we open a door and willingly participate in Satan’s kingdom—whether we believe in it or not—the door for demonic response coming back into our life is now legally available to Satan.
As a Christian, Satan has to have our permission to enter our life. He is bound by legalities. When we choose to watch horror films as entertainment… when we choose to have sex outside of marriage… we open a door with spiritual consequences. When we play with a Ouija board… attend a séance… even it we think it is simply harmless fun—we have willingly opened a door and given Satan access. It is our choice which doors we will open. And both God and Satan will use these doors for good or evil.
God will not share our heart with Satan. So when Satan is invited in, the Holy Spirit will depart. That does not mean you lose your salvation, but as scripture tells us, if we continue to practice sin, over time we willingly allow Satan to become the lord of our life instead of Jesus Christ.
Let’s look at the other side of this coin. When we read God’s Word, there is strength, blessing and wisdom that comes back into our life from the Holy Spirit. When we choose to obey God and respond to the voice of the Holy Spirit, there are fruits and blessings from that obedience.
When we praise the Lord with our heart and our voice, God responds and inhabits our praises, and we have the blessing of fellowship with God. When we pray in faith, according to God’s Word, God sends His angelic messengers to bring the power of Heaven to earth.
All people, created in God’s image, have the option to choose. Every choice is a door we are opening into God’s kingdom or Satan’s. We can choose to open the door to salvation by choosing to accept Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross for our sins… and be set free. We can choose not to believe Jesus is God’s Son and refuse His free gift of salvation and remain in Satan’s kingdom—subject to his control.
Be cautious which doors you open. It is your choice.
“Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)?“ Romans 6:16 AMP.

Abortions in Texas Fall 60 Percent Under First Month of New Law
Texas Health and Human Services officials report abortions in August numbered approximately 5,400. One month later, after the new Texas abortion law went into effect, that number fell to under 2,200, the Associated Press reported.
On September 1, 2021, Texas became the first state to put a “heartbeat” abortion law into effect. The law took effect after the U.S. Supreme Court did not take up a request by abortion providers for an injunction.
The Texas measure contains a unique enforcement mechanism whereby any private citizen may file a civil lawsuit against an abortion provider or any other individual who “aids or abets” a “criminal abortion”.
