The Bible describes success as being rooted in wisdom. It says, “If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success.” (Ecclesiastes 10:10 NKJV)
Are you desperate for victory over disease? Do you need success in finances or your vocation? Do you desire success in a relationship? Lasting success starts with a decision–a decision to succeed God’s way.
This “all-important” decision will produce an unwavering commitment to do what it takes to discover the spiritual laws relevant to your challenge, then to diligently apply these laws throughout your journey to complete victory.
In Joshua 1:8 we see a description of what it takes to realize success. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (NKJV)
What I’m describing is getting wisdom from the Lord–from His Word. James 1:5 (NKJV) tells us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” God has promised us what we need. And the Holy Spirit came to lead us into truth. We must request His help in our search for God’s wisdom for the situation we are facing. There is an answer for every challenge. There is a solution for every problem. But if you are not willing to make a firm decision to succeed, then it’s not likely you’re going to have a victorious result.
Nothing just happens or changes on its own. Wishing for something to be a certain way doesn’t make it so. Receiving wisdom from the Word of God is the first step toward victory. Applying that Word into your daily life is what brings about change. This is why the Bible strongly encourages us to be ‘doers’ of the Word and not just hearers (Matthew 7:24-27).
It is fundamental that we put the Lord first in all our thoughts and actions. A powerful promise from God is this, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:1. Be advised that God wants you and I to be successful even more than you want to be successful. But if we don’t believe and act according to His Word, there is little He can do about it. He will not hijack our will or force us to do what’s best. We are in partnership with God and must learn to walk in the benefits He offers.
Today, let me encourage you to make the decision to succeed. Decide to be victorious in the challenges you face. Make an unwavering commitment to do whatever it takes to get the wisdom of God for your situation. Then do what God’s Word tells you to do. Don’t just learn it. Apply it. Apply God’s wisdom to your challenge but don’t stop there. Keep thanking God for working all things for your good. Do these things until your success is achieved. When you do your part, God will always do His part.
