Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with cancer, or some other disease? First, I’m sorry for the challenge you are facing. But I am here to tell you there is good news.

In this world, there is cause and effect. Disease is the result of cause. The most common causes are: * how we think, * what we eat and drink, * toxins we may be exposed to, and * how we deal with stress. In other words–our lifestyle. This alerts us to the need to educate ourselves.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2). To prove God’s will with our life, we must change from this world’s way of looking and thinking about things… to God’s way.
Basically the full and deep truth is that a person sets the stage in their body for cancer or other disease to develop, just like my wife did. Now she didn’t do it on purpose. But even though she did it ignorantly, she still did it just the same.
She weakened and inhibited her immune system through years of incorrect choices. Things like chronic dehydration, lack of consistent sleep, not enough nutrients, exposure to toxins through diet, and not managing stress effectively. There are other more complex factors that also contribute that there is not time or space to elaborate on here.
I’d like to share a truth with you that will likely sound strange to many. You aren’t sick because you have cancer or some other disease. Your sick because your immune system is compromised and it’s no longer doing what it was designed by God to do.
In our research we learned that if the immune system is strong and working properly, the body fights off disease. God created your body to heal itself. That’s the purpose of the immune system which He gave every person. If it is managed and maintained in agreement with God’s design, the body heals and resists anything that brings dis-ease to the body. However, when the immune system becomes compromised due to ignorance or abuse, that creates a vulnerability to sickness and disease.
It is our responsibility to be stewards over our body… the temple of the Holy Spirit. If we neglect that God-given responsibility, why would we expect God to heal us? Just as repentance is required to be saved spiritually, it is also required to be saved physically. And repentance means to turn in a new direction… away from incorrect behavior and toward behavior in agreement with God’s will.
Another aspect of winning over disease, is faith. Faith is a powerful force that changes things. Understanding how faith works, is a huge key to healing. Remember the Scripture, “faith without works is dead” (James 2:14-26)? That indicates that action is needed on our part that is in agreement with God and His Word.
Do you believe the following Scripture is true for you? “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed“ (1 Peter 2:24). Have you consistently acted on it in faith with your words and your behavior? The reality of this single verse needs to become more real to you than any diagnosis or symptom.
Let me ask you a question. If a doctor diagnoses you as having cancer, or some other disease, do accept that as the truth? If you believe the diagnosis, then you are the sick trying to get healed–and that is not faith. Is a doctor’s diagnosis more true to you than 1 Peter 2:24? Whatever you believe the most will dictate your words and behavior.
A diagnosis is a medical opinion of your symptoms. But when someone tells you, “You have cancer,” a curse has just been put on you from this fallen world. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” (John 10:10a). It is imperative that you do not passively remain silent, or accept and repeat that diagnosis as if true. You must take a spiritual stand.
If you desire God’s will to dominate in your life, you must make claim to what Jesus said in the second half of that verse in John. “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b). Because if you believe that what Jesus said is true, then we can identify “disease” as Satan’s means to destruction. He wants to steal your health, destroy your life, and kill you. While Jesus desires to give you life abundantly. You cast the deciding vote.
When Paula was told she had terminal cancer and only months to live, she rebuked those words as a lie and a curse, rendering them null and void in Jesus’ name. Then she dug into what God had to say about her and healing, and gave God’s Word authority over her life.
Paula never made the statement, “I have cancer.” She would not take ownership of the disease. She only said, “I am the healed, in Jesus’ name.” She repented of the poor stewardship over her body and changed her behavior through educating herself on how to rebuild her immune system and keep it healthy.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21a). Believing one thing over another is necessary when attacked by sickness and disease. In other words, believing in the healing power of Jesus stripes over the symptoms and diagnosis of this fallen world.
How we identify ourselves, and the truth we stand on, is critical to the outcome we experience.
Putting your belief into action through words and deeds is necessary for faith to open the door to the supernatural. God does not open that door, we must. He will walk through it if we open it (Revelation 3:20).
You may be living in a fallen world, vulnerable to Satan’s attack. But if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have been adopted into God’s family. Now you are a citizen of Heaven, with the rights and privileges of Heaven through Jesus Christ. “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4b).”
Even though we are living in a fallen kingdom, we are not subject to this kingdom–unless we allow ourselves to be. We certainly will be attacked in this world. But we have access to God’s power to overcome victoriously–every time. We must reject anything contrary to God’s will in our life, and continually place ourselves in submission to God’s Kingdom. It is important to claim His promises as our birthright, and walk in them without compromise. When we do, then our faith brings Heaven’s will to earth in our behalf.
Remember when Jesus taught His disciples to pray? “Your kingdom come. Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). There is no sickness or disease in Heaven. God’s will is health and healing. Jesus clearly showed us God’s will while He was on earth. “Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people“ (Matthew 4:23).
There is so much more to share. But hundreds of readers of our book called “Life, Cancer and God” have opened their eyes and as a result, been healed of this dreaded disease.
“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:22-23).
Whatever the challenge you are facing right now, speak to that “mountain” and cast it out of your life in Jesus’ name. Do not allow doubt in your heart–but believe that what Satan meant for evil, God will use for your good. Speak in agreement with what God’s will is about your situation and with what you believe in your heart!
With God, nothing is impossible!
