According to current news headlines – population growth is exploding. 7.5 billion people are now alive on this planet. Of the 107 billion that have already lived, 100% have died. Death is inevitable. 55.3 million die each year and over 150,000 will die today. More than 6,300 will die this hour, over 1,000 while watching this video. Eternity is waiting.

The most recent survey, tells us that 72% of Americans believe in heaven. What about you? Do you believe Heaven is a real place?

Hello friends, I’m Dale black. Being the only survivor of an airplane crash and experiencing Heaven personally, allows me to speak with great conviction on this subject.

The Bible tells us that Heaven is VERY real—Jesus spoke of it many times, even describing many aspects of it in detail.

We’ve all seen the cartoon pictures of heaven and imagined a boring place where people in white robes sit around on puffy clouds singing and playing harps. It’s no wonder a lot of people aren’t very interested in Heaven as an ultimate destination.

But let’s look at what the Bible really tells us about Heaven. Here are 5 facts about Heaven that may completely surprise you and are guaranteed to inspire your faith.

Fact One: Heaven is a real place. It truly is the ultimate destination for anyone who cares about where they’ll spend eternity. You’ll want to know that you and I are already in eternity. Your spirit—the real you—will live forever. Only your body dies. YOU will continue living.

Did you know Heaven has an atmosphere, nature and community? It has things like sky, water, grass, gravity, gardens and mountains. You’ll enjoy all types of animals that live freely and in unity with one another. Jesus teaches about mansions to live in. We’re told we’ll even eat in Heaven and enjoy wonderful banquets—we’ll enjoy many new flavors and awesome fellowship of Heaven.

After Jesus was resurrected, he had a real body. He could eat and be touched, but He could also walk through walls. He had a glorified body—the type of body we’re promised when He returns for His people.

In Luke 24:39 Jesus describes His glorified body to His disciples. “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I, Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

Fact Two: Heaven is a place of perfection and unimaginable beauty. The earth was made as a reflection of Heaven so it will be much like what we see here only more glorious. The Bible even mentions specific and physical things like streets made of gold. And in Revelation 21, the wall around the city is described with stones, like Jasper, sapphire and emerald, just to name a few. Even the city gates are made of pearl. Then there is the Tree of Life which produces 12 different types of fruit. These are just a few of the physical aspects of Heaven. It is a real place for real people. And full of wonders beyond description.

One of Jesus’ most amazing promises is described in John chapter 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am there you may be also.”

Our imagination is just too limited to picture the true beauty of heaven. Jesus has been preparing Heaven for us for a long time. The apostle Paul tells us, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9.

Fact Three: Heaven offers a lifestyle that will keep us fulfilled for eternity. We will continue to learn and grow in understanding. We will contribute to the community through our talents and gifts and find great fulfillment in accomplishing things that bring God glory and bring joy to the citizens of Heaven.

Heaven will provide new sights and sounds, new colors we’ve never seen before, and fantastic places to explore. We will be able to travel throughout God’s creation, which includes visiting new worlds, galaxies and unseen dimensions.

The Bible also tells us that we will reign and rule with Christ. We will find challenge in things we do and we will contribute in ways that bring us fulfillment and true joy and satisfaction.

One of our greatest delights will be the fellowship we enjoy in Heaven. There will be unlimited fulfillment spending time with those we’ve known and making new friends.

Best of all we will spend time with Jesus—basking in His fellowship and love. Being able to walk and talk with Him one on one. We will worship God, enjoying His presence in every part of Heaven.

Fact Four: You will retain your memories and personality. In Heaven, we will recognize each other. But we will be the best version of ourselves—the image God had of us when He created us. Though we will still be “us,” our memories and mind will be purified to forget the hurtful, ungodly and painful things while remembering the good things that bring glory to God.

In Philippians 4:8 Paul said, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

Each person is unique and retains their individuality. But wonderfully, we will finally be known for who we really are at our deepest levels. Paul said, “Now I know in part but then I shall know just as I also am known.”

Fact Five: Heaven, which is also called the new Jerusalem, will eventually move to planet earth and remain in the air over the city of earthly Jerusalem.

In the book of Revelation John records what he saw. “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelation 21:1-2.

Heaven—or the new Jerusalem—will still be our home but we will be able to interact with those who live on the new earth and move back and forth between the two places. The life God has prepared for us will never be boring.

Friends, if you miss out on heaven you miss out on everything. Give your life to God and let Him make something wonderful out of it. Only then will your future will be certain and your place in heaven secure.
