It seems obvious to me that there has never been a time in all of history, where truth is in such short supply, and needed by so many! Deception is prevalent—even within the Church.
Knowing truth is our God-given safeguard, to recognizing danger and deception. So, may I ask? Are you firmly rooted in God’s word? Are you confident in your ability to discern deception? If not, it’s time to spend more time in your Bible and in fellowship with the Lord. The days are growing spiritually darker and it is more important than ever to prepare ourselves for what the Bible tells us is ahead.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” 2 Timothy 4:3-4.
A good personal friend, who worked for Secret Service in the counterfeit and firearms division, described how his team were trained to quickly recognize counterfeit currency. They intimately studied real currency, and in knowing what was real, they were able to quickly discerned what was not. That has been a great lesson to illustrate “how to avoid deception”—know what is truth!
When you are familiar with what is true, you are able to quickly recognize what is false. However, if you do not know what is true, then you are very vulnerable to believing deception—a lie disguised as truth.
Knowing God’s Word is the key. In days of great deception, which we are living in, it is more important than ever to be equipped to recognize what is—and what is not—trustworthy.
One of the great deceptions that has entered our current world, is trusting Artificial Intelligence. It is growing rapidly and being introduced into our lives in ways that are disarmingly deceptive. On one hand, it masquerades as convenient and entertaining, while collecting information about our habits, desires, and beliefs. We are fascinated and enamored with all the benefits it offers, and in general, we befriend it. However, I am certain it is waiting to pounce, as we become more vulnerable to its charms.
A new Reuters poll found that 61% of Americans see A.I. as a threat to humanity’s future. More significantly, A.I. researchers tend to agree. These are the people who go to work every day and push forward the technology of artificial intelligence. A recent poll showed that half of them admit that they believe A.I. has at least a 10% chance of causing the extinction of the human race.
The ex-Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, said, “A.I. poses existential risk of people being ‘harmed or killed.'” As the Google executive spoke about artificial intelligence (AI) and how it is being programmed into every industry, such as robots and cars, he also described how AI is evolving. Also how the government is already monitoring and controlling people through technology today. It sounds like he’s describing words right out of the Book of Revelation.
“And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” Revelation 13:14-17.
Most believe A.I. is growing exponentially, so quickly, that it will soon be out of mankind’s ability to control. One of the aspects of A.I. is to integrate it into the human body, such as Elon Musk is already doing with the neuro chip. He has said that his brain implant company, Neuralink, will make the paralyzed walk, the blind see, and eventually turn people into cyborgs. He sounds a bit like a current day Savior. In the last phase of the 2045 Initiative, it states that nano-technology will be interwoven into our brains to bring us cybernetic immortality and what some are calling “spiritual self-improvement.”
In the Book of Revelation, we learn that those who will not take the Mark of the Beast, will not be allowed to buy or sell, or generally participate in society. Eventually, we are told, that any who are not marked in solidarity with the Antichrist and his beast system, will be killed for non-compliance.
In light of the Artificial Intelligence we currently see, it is easy to perceive how this technology can be used to control every person on the planet. What could go wrong? According to Scripture, we know that the New World leader will be the Antichrist disguised as a peace maker. But we also know that he will be evil incarnate, and will use what tools and technology he has, for evil purpose.
Bible prophecy does not say that artificial intelligence causes the extinction of humanity. In fact, the Bible teaches about the eternal nature of humanity and the human race. But the doomsday opinions of AI researchers point with concern, to the level of momentum AI has already gained. Half the people who work in that field think it has a good chance of destroying us, yet they continue. Most of them seem to think we have already passed the point of no return.
When we know Scripture, we can easily discern what is in agreement, and what is antagonistic to it. The Bible tells us God’s Word is truth. In John 17:17, we read where Jesus is praying for His disciples. It says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” Those who are rooted and grounded in the truth of God’s word will be secure and able to discern what is false and what is true.
Several things in Bible prophecy seem to indicate the end-time use of AI. Happily, none of them involve the extinction of the human race. But they do involve a stunning loss of human rights. For instance, Revelation 13 talks about an economic system based on the Mark of the Beast. It will require all transactions to go through the Mark system. To ensure compliance, the Antichrist’s government will have to surveil everyone… all the time. There aren’t enough people to police humanity at that level, but AI is being primed to keep constant tabs on everyone.
AI can monitor the billions of cameras, computers, satellites, cash registers, phones, and everything else connected to it. Future police vehicles will not all be manned, and robotic cars and aerial drones will patrol neighborhoods and business districts. Each will be equipped to look and listen through walls, read every license plate, and use facial recognition on every face. Only an AI system could correlate and interpret that massive flow of data almost instantly. The abilities I’ve described, are already available and working. They simply are not yet in mass operation.
Already, New York City has multiple A.I. robots patrolling the streets with police. One group, the “Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP),” said, “Wasting public dollars to invade New Yorkers’ privacy is a dangerous police stunt,” and added that New York should “be investing in actual human beings, not robots.” Mayor Adams dismissed those as concerns from a vocal minority and says that “today is only the beginning” of the city’s embrace of new policing technology.
A.I. powered robots can enforce whatever laws or mandates they are given. Critics of regular human police, accuse them of favoritism and emotion-based prejudices. These prejudices will not exist in an A.I. driven system and can steer public opinion further in the direction of A.I.
If the police are de-funded, you still have the problem of crime and criminals. But AI robots have no emotions, they treat everyone according to their programming, they don’t require compensation, and they can be as deadly as needed.
We’re headed into a new world where A.I. is concerned. And we’re not walking. We’re running.
Starting thousands of years ago, the Bible described our time. As always, God’s prophecies are proving to be true. Instead of frightening us, these things should strengthen our confidence in all His promises for those who trust in Him.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23.
