Friends,
Some subjects in the life of believers are widely understood. Others are rarely discussed or often misunderstood. Yet sometimes the very things believers avoid talking about are the things that could strengthen their spiritual lives the most. Our enemy often tries to rob the Christian of power any way he can — and that often includes anything to do with the Holy Spirit, who was sent to empower believers.
Let’s continue our conversation about the Holy Spirit and the gift of “praying in the spirit” in your prayer life.
This subject has been misunderstood for many years. Some churches avoid it entirely. Others emphasize it in ways that can feel confusing or overwhelming.
And yes, like many things in the Christian world, it has oftentimes been misused.
But misuse does not cancel truth.
We don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The Bible clearly speaks about this gift, and one of the most important verses comes from the apostle Paul. He wrote:
“He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.”
That word edifies simply means to build up or strengthen.
In other words, praying in tongues strengthens your inner spiritual person.
Let me explain it another way.
As a pilot, I’ve spent decades around aircraft systems. Every airplane has batteries. Those batteries are critical to the aircraft’s operation.
When a battery becomes weak, problems begin to appear.
But aircraft batteries are constantly being recharged — either by the engines, by the auxiliary power unit, or by ground power when the plane is parked.
The system keeps the power strong.
Our spiritual life works in a similar way.
We live in a world filled with stress, conflict, temptation, and spiritual opposition. Even strong believers can feel drained. These days more than ever.
That’s why the power of the Holy Spirit is crucial.
Praying in the Spirit is like plugging your spirit into Heaven’s power source.
Your inner life begins to recharge.
Your spirit grows stronger and more alert to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Your faith becomes more confident.
Now let me say something clearly.
I know many wonderful Christians who love God deeply, study the Bible faithfully, and live surrendered lives — yet they have never experienced this particular blessing of the Holy Spirit.
I am not judging anyone. That is not my role.
But I have observed something over many years of ministry and travel around the world.
There is usually a noticeable difference in spiritual strength when believers regularly pray in the Spirit.
Why?
Because when you pray in your own language, you pray according to what you know.
But when you pray in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit prays through you according to the perfect will of God.
You may not understand the words being spoken.
But Heaven understands them completely.
And according to Scripture, even the spiritual forces of darkness recognize what is happening.
The language of the Spirit does not originate from this world.
It comes from God Himself.
And that is why the enemy hates it.
Again, this gift has sometimes been exaggerated or used improperly. I have seen that myself. Many times. Many.
But the existence of abuse does not mean the gift itself is false.
The Holy Spirit is real.
His power is real.
And His work in the life of believers is real.
In my own life, praying in the Spirit has strengthened my faith, sharpened my spiritual awareness, and deepened my relationship with God.
And that is something every believer can experience.
There’s more about this subject, and as the Lord directs – more will be coming to you.

When Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ the son of the living GOD. It says And I tell you you are Peter and on this rock i will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. This means Peter is confessing his Faith in Jesus Christ and that Faith in Christ and works in Christ can alone save him from death? Religion doesn’t save you only Jesus. Jesus said I am the only way to GOD. I am the way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me. We do good works not to earn are Salvation but to prove that we truly our Believers in Jesus Christ. Faith without works is dead. When we praise God in church the Glory belongs to God Alone. We are one body of believers. The Glory doesn’t belong to any Chrisitan denomination? The Glory belongs to GOD Alone. Salvation is a free gift.
Manuel, amen—there’s a lot of truth in what you shared.
You’re exactly right… salvation is found in Jesus alone, and it’s a gift of grace—not something we can earn. And real faith does produce a changed life.
I especially appreciate you pointing back to Jesus as the center of it all. That’s where our focus needs to stay.
Grateful for you sharing this
