When you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, you became a “new creature.” That’s exactly what the Bible tells us. Look at 2 Corinthians 5:17,
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
If you’ve invited Jesus into your heart you’re not the same person you were before. You actually have the nature of God placed inside of you. But it’s not enough for you to have that new nature just on the inside of you. You and I have to also let it take over the outside of us.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2.
Unfortunately you’re not going to see this part happen automatically. You’ll need to make a decision to bring your mind and body into obedience to the new, reborn man that resides within you. You’ll need to determine to do what Romans 6:12 says and, “don’t let sin reign – in your mortal body…”
This sounds extremely difficult, but remember, God has not left you alone or asked you to do something He has not equipped you to accomplish. You have a Helper inside of you to assist you in carrying out your decision. It is the Third Person of the Trinity–the precious Holy Spirit. God’s Spirit is there to strengthen you along the way. He gives you the power to put sin out of your life and under your feet once and for all.
John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”
Why not declare today as your own personal “D-Day”. Today make the quality decision to dedicate your soul (mind, will, emotions) and your body fully to the Lord. If you’ve done this before, that’s great… but why not do it again right now?
Today, will you let the new man, which is on the inside of you, rule and reign on the outside also?
You can do it! With God nothing is impossible.
