What are your beliefs? In this modern day society, it’s more important than ever to identify what beliefs you have that might be holding you back from God’s best in your life. Are you willing to move beyond your limiting beliefs? Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21:21-22 NKJV).
When Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, He was telling them that with God there are no limits. He was saying they could have whatever things they ask for if they would believe. In 1 John 5:14-15 it gives us more guidance on this powerful truth. “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
God isn’t a magic genie to grant any wish we may want. We are told that we must ask in agreement with His will. He is a loving and powerful God Who desires to fill our lives with His blessings and provide the help we need. So the only thing that limits what God can do and will do in your life … is your belief system. It sounds so simple yet it is so powerful.
Your life as it exists right now, is a result of what you have believed (spoken and acted upon, based on what’s in your heart) over the past weeks, months, and years. This means that if you want to see change in your life… you must first change what you believe. It is because I care about you that I write this. And I do hope you will think about this information because I believe it can help.
Revisiting our beliefs is something we all need to do on a regular basis. We live in a fallen world that operates contrary to God’s kingdom. Over time, what we believe is easily changed by the enemy’s propaganda without us even realizing it. Romans 12:2 tells us, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
This renewal of our beliefs is not a one-time event. It is intended to be an ongoing, continual renewal that corrects our thoughts and beliefs regularly. Renewing our beliefs is something we all need to do daily–and we do that by spending time in God’s word. If we don’t know God’s will and His ways, we cannot believe correctly or ask in faith to get the result we desire.
There really is good news in considering this information. Why? Because God has already given you the ability to have major control of your destiny and your future. You see, if you’ve made Jesus the Lord of your life, then the life you live is not just a “hit-and-miss” experiment.” You and I have been granted access to the Godly things we desire through our ability to believe the Lord. We can tap into the limitless miracle power of God by developing and stretching our faith. Yes, faith in His promises. Faith in our God. These kind of results require no more doubting. Instead, it’s non-stop believing the Word of God… not for selfish, carnal things, but for God’s will in your life–His power and the abundant life He came to earth to give you.
Jesus desired that His disciples would think “outside the world’s box” in order to believe God for the impossible. And anyone who reads the Bible, even for just a few chapters, can usually see that He asks His followers to exercise faith. In Matthew 21, Jesus was telling His disciples that the only requirement for receiving was their believing. He knew the only obstacle to this kind of believing was the natural mind–the King James version refers to it as the carnal mind. Consider the following:
- The natural mind comes up with a lot of reasons why “it” can NOT happen.
- The natural mind will explain precisely why “it” will NOT work.
- The natural mind will block the supernatural, and limit you to the probable, the logical, and the reasonable.
Well it sure doesn’t take exercising of faith to believe those things. But God has a better way for you and me. Whatever it is you are praying for, especially when it is in line with His will, God has promised in His Word that it can and will happen when you believe. So let me encourage you. Start this week creating a new life for yourself. Why not decide here and now to be all you were created to be? Why not expect the answer you need by doing what Jesus said to do—which is to stretch your belief system. After all, believing has no limits, right?
To remove your previous limitations and replace them with faith, you can do the following things:
- Set your heart and mind fully on God’s Word and the promises He has made to you.
- Highlight those words in your Bible. Write them in a journal. Scribble them on post-its and place them where you see them daily.
- Then, choose to believe God’s Word is true in YOUR life. Give His promise authority in your life. Determine to believe. Commit to believing.
- And finally… believe that you will receive those things you ask for in prayer.
Tell yourself out loud that God is making you into a spiritual giant with mountain-moving faith. Then ask Him to do just that! Get in agreement with that belief. You can do it. It is God’s will for you. God is moving with amazing power in these times… and you will want to be in the middle of what He is doing.
He has put you in this place and time for His divine purpose and desires to build His kingdom through you. Yes, there will always be worldly giants (obstacles) in the way, just like Joshua encountered in the land God had promised them. But with faith Joshua focused beyond the obstacles (giants) to God’s promise, and with faith was able to overcome and receive what he was believing for.
Please know that we love you and we are praying for our partners. And remember, with God nothing is impossible!
