The first half of the final seven years on earth before the return of Jesus Christ, will be a turbulent time. Jesus Himself calls this period ’the beginning of birth pangs’. It is important to remember that The Lord gave us the Olivet Discourse as a guide—recorded in Matthew 24. While sitting in the Garden on the Mount of Olives, across from the city of Jerusalem, Jesus described for His disciples, what would occur in the final days. This information is what you want and need to know, as it begins to manifest even in our current day.

A parallel account of Matthew 24 is found in more detail in the last book of the New Testament—The Book of Revelation. In Revelation, John was shown the things which He was told ‘must shortly take place’. His revelation was of Jesus Christ as Savior and Judge at the end of the Church Age.

“Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” Matthew 24:4-8 NKJV.

With that foundation, let’s look further at the first half of the final 7 years, which are also referred to as “the beginning of sorrows,” giving  us a sense of what’s ahead for the world.
