Difficult days have become the “norm” in 2020. But God tells us, “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10b.
Unfortunately, too often people search for happiness instead of joy. It seems that most have the perception that being happy is the goal of life – as if happiness is the mark of success. But happiness is an emotion that will come and go and is largely based on circumstances. Anyone who pursues happiness will ultimately be left with feelings of failure and despair.
But for believers in Jesus Christ we have been given great news. Jesus said, “I have told you these things so that you will be filled with My joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” John 15:11. These are Jesus’ words directly to you. Your joy doesn’t come from outside circumstances. Not at all. Your joy comes from the Holy Spirit who resides within you.
Don’t ever let the devil steal your joy. It’s where your power resides.
