The Bible is filled with events of supernatural protection for God’s faithful. God can bring you out of a fiery furnace. He can rain manna from Heaven. He can shut the mouth of a lion. He can part the sea and send warning and/or instructions through an Angel. He has proven time and again that He’s more than able to move Heaven and earth to bring His people through difficult circumstances.
“The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time forth, and even forevermore” Psalm 121:7-8.
You should know something vitally important. God’s protection is not automatic. There are things we must do in order for God to be our Refuge. If you want God’s protection, there are choices you must make. No one can make the choices for you. Freedom and liberty are evaporating worldwide. Blessings and deliverance from the evil in this world, are not for everyone—only for the obedient. They are available to all, yes. But you must choose to put yourself into the position to receive them!
“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” Deuteronomy 7:9.
It is those who are obedient to God, who will receive the promise of protection. Protection is for the persistent and resolute. God’s protection is for those who are steadfast to walk with God and put their trust in Him. God’s promise of protection is real. His protection works. Still, you must choose.
Choose God’s Protection by Pressing Into Him
These are serious days. It’s no time to be sitting on the fence or being double-minded. You must decide where you are going to dwell—where you are going to put your trust and dependence—who you serve.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1.
It will not be possible for you to place your dependence on God without spending time with Him and His Word. Remember, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. By spending time in the Bible, you will become fully persuaded that God is faithful. Assurance comes into your heart as your trust in God grows. That assurance brings peace instead of fear.
Here’s a practical tip that works effectively. Many have learned to seek God first thing in the morning. You’ll find you are able to hear more from the Holy Spirit in a shorter amount of time. If for some reason you think you don’t have the time, then turn off your phone or computer or television so you can go to bed earlier and get up earlier. It will be well worth the effort to put time with God as a priority.
Our responsibility in life is to seek God—always. The Hebrew word for seek (doresh) comes from a root word that means “to tread or frequent.” In Hebrew, seek means “to ask, diligently inquire, require or search.” Joshua 1:8 says to meditate in the Word day and night. That means ‘chew on it’, apply it to yourself, think about it, say it out loud, contemplate.
We need to continually research the Scriptures to know more about God and His way of doing things. As we understand more about God out trust grows. We should always be learning about God. Consistent victory comes as we do this.
When you choose to continually dwell in “the secret place of the Most High,” you will step into God’s circle of blessing and protection. You can’t see your circle but it’s there. Just as you may not be able to see your angels, God promises that He has given His angels charge over you so they do not leave you. You walk surrounded by His protection continually when you walk in obedience—above, below, north, south, east and west!
“Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward, for you have need of endurance, so after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not delay.” Hebrews 10:35-37
