God has given instruction to Dale about dying to the flesh everyday. Dale daily declares, “I’m DEAD to the flesh… yet vitally ALIVE in spirit unto Jesus Christ.”

It Started With A Dream
Recently I had a vivid dream which I’m convinced was from the Holy Spirit and when I awoke, words were flowing from my mouth.  “I’m Dale Black – dead to the flesh yet VITALLY ALIVE in spirit UNTO Christ. My body is a temple for the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed, and sanctified by the blood of Jesus. I am an instrument of righteousness, yielded to God, for His service and for His glory. Satan has no place in me, no power over me, no unsettled claims against me. All have been covered by the blood of Jesus. I overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of my testimony, and I do not love my life to the death.” *1

In this dream I was helping an older man who was in hospice, wearing a hospital gown and robe, standing in a corner. He looked very weak and ready to die. His eyes were sunken and dark–his complexion discolored. In the dream I was given a word of knowledge from the Holy Spirit that this man would die today. I didn’t know who he was–though he seemed familiar. As I stood slightly behind him with comforting hands on his shoulders, I couldn’t help but look just past him into the nearby mirror on the wall. I not only saw the man’s reflection but also mine. I was stunned to see myself wearing the same type of hospital robe as the man. In addition to the knowledge that this man would die today… additional knowledge came to me that I too would die tomorrow.

I began wondering if I had done enough with my life. Had I fulfilled my mission? Did my life make a real difference? I recognized then how my perspective had become earthbound. Rather than being glad to see Jesus and being pleased to finish my race, I was saddened because I KNEW I would die tomorrow and so much would be left unfinished. That was the dream.

Laying on my side in bed, the words flowed from my heart through my mouth again: “I’m Dale Black – dead to the flesh yet VITALLY ALIVE in spirit UNTO Christ. My body is a temple for the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed and sanctified by the blood of Jesus. I am an instrument of righteousness, yielded to God, for His service and for His glory. Satan has no place in me, no power over me, no unsettled claims against me. All have been covered by the blood of Jesus. I overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of my testimony, and I do not love my life to the death.” 

These were the words to Dale from the Holy Spirit. Effective Date: Today and everyday forever. I’m calling this my “Die Again Today Proclamation” but I don’t intend to be religious about it. The next day following the dream, I fasted all day. I walked and prayed… asking God what more He wanted from me and what corrections He desired. I am on a new journey with my Lord. The words REST IN PEACE keep coming to mind. Not in a morbid way but with spiritual meaning. God was telling me to REST in Him by surrendering all–only then was peace truly possible.

To REST. Rest in Him and DIE to this world and the flesh… again today. “For he that is entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.” Hebrews 4:10

Rest in PEACE. Peace only comes from full surrender to God and His will. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee…” Isaiah 26:3

I have made a commitment to speak aloud the “Die Again Today proclamation” every day and if you think about it, pray that I memorize it.

The next morning, having just finished reciting out loud my “Die Again Today”, Paula greeted me with a cup of hot tea and asked, “How did you sleep, honey?”

Smiling I said, “I slept like a dead man.”
