One of the most important aspects about knowing God and understanding His ways, is to know that you are called by God to be part of His family and to use your life for His kingdom. God has a specific plan, a divine plan, just for you. Paula and I believe that anyone who knows Jesus as Savior has a call from the Lord on their life. God has an individual purpose that you – and only you – are called to fulfill. No believer should ever simply drift through life – but instead, should have a specific sense of purpose and destiny.

Allow me to say it again this way… If you have become a Christian, you have a call on your life. God does not make carbon copies. He does not clone people. He has a specific and individual plan just for you.

If you have committed your life to Jesus Christ, the next step you should take is to request God’s gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to equip you, gift you, and empower you. Why? So you are equipped to live out His calling with your life.

Divine destiny starts by giving the Lord Jesus the controls. Go to DaleBlack.org and click on “Book Your Heaven Flight” to learn more. On that page, carefully view the videos, read the information, and do the best thing you will ever do – invite Jesus Christ into your heart and life. This New Life is literally what you were created for and you’ll never feel whole without it.

Having a divine purpose and a life of destiny starts with getting right with God. Then asking for His strength and power to guide and gift you in the areas He desires you to fulfill. Follow His teachings. Follow His leading. And be filled and walk daily with His Holy Spirit. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a believer for one year or fifty years, all the blessings of God are available to you. Once you’ve made Jesus the Lord of your life, then having a specific, individual purpose for living, is equally available to you, as it is for each of God’s children. 

One of the great tragedies among born-again Christians is the fact that so few see their own importance to God. Most people don’t realize how very special they are in God’s eyes and how valuable they are in His kingdom.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began…”  2 Timothy 1:8-9 (NKJV)

It’s the ninth verse that I’d like you to consider focusing on. Here’s how it reads in the Amplified Bible, “…for He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life—a life set apart—a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit—we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago].”

In this scripture, Paul, the apostle, is saying that God has saved us and called us with a holy calling. But we’d like to emphasize here and now, that if you are saved then you are also called. If you’re born-again and if Jesus is your Lord and Savior, then you have a divine purpose and destiny already assigned to you.

Being called is not something extra that gets tagged on after salvation. When Christians view it in this way, they are almost certain not to find their calling. Being called is part of the new birth process. Your calling is actually part of your salvation. God has saved us AND God has called us – with a holy calling.

I pray that by reading this letter, you will be motivated to ask God to reveal the truth of your calling by the Spirit of God. I pray that you will find that your calling is indeed holy. And this calling is something that truly sets you apart. It will set boundaries on the things that you can indulge in and it sets limits around your life – but all for your good and God’s glory.

Go to God right now and ask Him to show you His calling for your life. He is certain to answer this prayer. Don’t give up. Learn to listen and wait. And when you ask, make sure you ask in faith. Keep in mind… prayer that gets answered is prayer that agrees with God on something He already wants. And He wants you to walk in your calling.
