The spiritual realm was established by God with rules to govern it as a safeguard against Satan simply taking what he wants without our consent. God created mankind with free will so that we have the ability and power to choose who we will serve.

Every person of the age of accountability is either serving God or Satan by default. But both God and Satan must receive our permission to enter our life. We see in the Garden of Eden that Satan could only tempt Adam and Eve. They had to agree. Even today, each person has the opportunity to surrender their free will to God, or the temptation to say “yes” to Satan so that he gains access into their life through there choice.

The problem is that due to deception, most don’t recognize Satan’s request for access and therefore accept his invitation ignorantly. Sadly, ignorance is not a valid excuse in the spiritual realm, because God will not share the throne of anyone’s life with Satan or man.

As we approach Halloween, a childhood holiday of spooks and goblins, tricks or treats, we have been conditioned that it’s a harmless holiday and so most Christians participate in this annual event in some form or fashion. What you may not know is that Halloween, October 31^st, is indeed a high satanic holy day in Satan’s kingdom and is celebrated annually with human sacrifice and evil of every kind.

When we participate in any form with this holiday, we are giving our legal permission for it and therefore are condoning Satan’s kingdom activities. You may not like it or want to believe it but that doesn’t change the spiritual laws that are in effect.

Likewise, when we go the movies to see horror films, movies about sorcery, witchcraft or magic, we may think it’s all in harmless fun. Nothing that comes from Satan’s kingdom is harmless fun. It always carries with it a cost. When you participate in a movie about magic, you are saying “yes” to Satan’s power. There’s no question, it’s intoxicating. It has been empowered with intrigue and deception. It is demonically empowered to entice.

As a Christian, you may rationalize and think it’s all harmless enough, but you would be mistaken. Even though the world (Satan’s kingdom) has made it socially acceptable and politically correct, that does not make it harmless. Unfortunately, the church is only a step behind the world in trying to be relevant and therefore is easily swayed to trivialize evil as nothing that serious to worry about. But allowing our children’s souls to be captured and trained to compromise in this area is eternally risky.

You are a free agent. That was God’s priceless gift to you. You have been given the supreme authority to choose who you will serve–who you will allow to have access and authority in your spiritual life and your eternal destination.

Even though you are God’s creation, He does nothing without your permission. When Jesus came as Messiah and ministered on earth, people would have to tell Him what they wanted, giving Him permission to have access into their life even when it was for a godly purpose.

Consider Luke 18:40-41. “So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He (Jesus) asked him, saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”

Do you think that Jesus didn’t know what the blind man wanted and needed? Of course, Jesus knew. But it was necessary for the man to give Jesus permission to heal him. To undo the work of the enemy and bring this man’s physical body back into agreement with God’s will.

Too often people do not receive from God because they are still extending authority to Satan in some area of their life. Unless that authority is rescinded and put under the blood of Jesus, that person is not available to receive what Jesus would like to bring into their life.

So often when Jesus healed, we see Him also forgive sins which is what originally opened the door to the sickness or disease.

Matthew 9:5-6. “For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

Acts 10:38 speaks to the connection of demonic oppression and sickness and disease.
“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

And then there is one of the most tempting and deceptive strongholds that Satan uses to hold legal ground in a person’s life. It is the deception of unforgiveness. Even though we know it’s bad for us and against God’s will, it feels “fair and justified” to our soul’s. And, we rationalize… it’s only this small area in our life. We keep unforgiveness compartmentalized and go about our Christian life as if it doesn’t really matter.

But unforgiveness, like playing with a Ouija Board, gives Satan’s kingdom legal access into your life. God knows this and made it clear how dangerous it is to allow unforgiveness to continue unchecked.

The Christian life is more about surrender to the righteous Lordship of Jesus Christ than it is about looking Christian, going to church, or reading the Bible.

Satan goes to church. Satan knows the Bible. Satan is very religious. What he is not, nor can he ever be, is surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

As Satan becomes more blatant in his approach in these last days… and as time is running out to draw the legal boundaries within your life, it is time to reassess whether you look and act more like a compromised, politically correct Christian or a fully surrendered follower of Jesus Christ.

Jesus made it clear that He is not coming back for a compromised church. He is coming back for a bride that is without spot or wrinkle. A bride that is worthy of Him. That is only possible if we are not tolerating any of Satan’s whitewashed, culturally acceptable sin.

I am not saying we have to be perfect. Jesus is perfect for us. But that does not allow us to become playmates with evil or allow darkness into our lives when we have a choice.

Let’s remember the words of Joshua… a faithful man of God. “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of  the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

The same gods Joshua referred to are alive and well today. They go by different names and they are socially acceptable in today’s culture. But they are just as evil and it is just as serious of a choice today as it was then.
