Today we continue with Part 2 of last week’s teaching about how to receive authentic healing from God. As children of God we have been given access to God and His kingdom benefits. But if we do not adequately understand the “how” and “why” of God’s plan, we may miss the desired result. Do you need healing today? Have you been hoping and wanting and believing for help from Heaven, yet, it has not arrived? God wants you to receive His many blessings, but He has put in place a method of access. There are no shortcuts.

Understanding the design of the gift of salvation is a helpful template in understanding how God designed the spiritual realm to interact with the natural realm. It gives us some basic principles of how we receive from God. Look at what Jesus taught about salvation. In John 10:1 it is made clear that there is a specific way into relationship with God. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”

There are many people these days that say, “There are many ways to God. Jesus may be your way, but I may find a different way.” The sad truth is that the people who believe there is another way into relationship with God besides through Jesus, are finding a different god.

There are God-designed ways to receive what God provides. If we try to access God’s blessings any way other than His way, we will not be recognized as legitimate recipients. The compromised and weak church of today offers many “shortcuts” and incorrect doctrines about how to receive from Heaven.  If we neglect to line up with the Creator’s design, we miss out on the many blessings of being children of God. And the access method to these different blessings vary based on whether you are desiring something for your spirit, soul or body. Of course, the underlying need for faith in Jesus is paramount to everything else said.

Man was originally created for personal fellowship with God. However, when Adam and Eve sinned, their disobedience produced disastrous effects in all three parts of their beings. Cut off from relationship with God, their spirits died. This was in fulfillment of God’s warning: “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

In Part one, it was mentioned that the “real you” is your spirit. The spirit of man is the part God was referring to in the above scripture. Sin and spiritual separation brought spiritual death. Adam’s body, or the physical part of his being, immediately began to die once his spirit died, even though he lived another 900 years. Prior to spiritual death there was no physical death. The natural realm always follows the spiritual realm, much like the cars of a train follow the engine. What happens in the spiritual realm reflects in the natural realm.

Through exercising his will in direct disobedience to God, man became a rebel in his soul. Since that time, every person who has descended from Adam has inherited the nature of a rebel and has been born with a sin nature—rebellious against God.

In Ephesians 2:1–3 Paul describes that the results of rebellion have affected every one of us: “And you . . . were dead in trespasses and sins in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience [rebellion] among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.”

As a result of sin, we are all dead in our spirits until we are born-again. If we have a dead spirit, our soul is naturally in rebellion against God. In addition, our body, also, has become subject to corruption—that is, to sickness, decay and death. Yet the boundless love of God is such that He continually longs for the restoration of His fellowship with man. “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us.” Furthermore, through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, God has opened a way for the restoration of that fellowship which was lost.

What a wonderful and gracious plan God designed in order to restore mankind to their position of relationship and life.

Effects of Salvation
In Ephesians 2:4–5 Paul goes on to describe the outworking of salvation in our spirits: “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.” This scripture is telling us that our spirits, when reunited with God, are alive once again. At the same time, our souls—through repentance and faith—are released from rebellion and can be reconciled to God through their renewal.

The scripture continues… “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

When we realize that we have all been in rebellion against God, we understand why there can be no genuine salvation without repentance. Repentance means laying down our rebellion and submitting ourselves to God’s righteous government. Salvation also makes provision for the body. Delivered from the slavery of sin, our bodies become temples in which the Holy Spirit dwells and our members become instruments of righteousness. Finally, at the return of Christ, our bodies will be transformed into immortal bodies like that of Christ Himself! And in the meantime we have access to the healing Jesus paid for when He went to the cross. 1 Peter 2:24 describes this about Jesus. “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes (wounds) you were healed.”

These are important principles to understand in your quest for the blessings and provisions of God. If we skip the foundational truths of “why” and “how” we are building on unstable ground and seldom experience the results that we desire.

God has a way for each part of us to experience restoration and wholeness. As we continue, we will discuss more detail about the soul and body.  In Luke 8:48 Jesus said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

The girl’s faith was a vital ingredient for healing. So keep your faith strong. Keep speaking His promises to yourself and anyone who will listen, because your faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. And keep mindful as you go through your week that with God nothing is impossible!
